We would like to invite the parents and students to an 8th and 9th grade orientation on Wednesday, August 18th at 5:30 pm in the Sidney Huntington Commons. We will discuss scheduling, locations of classes, and any concerns that parents may have this upcoming school year.

Sidney C. Huntington School students 8th grade to 12th grade are invited to come to the Sidney C. Huntington School Office to register for this year’s classes on August 22nd and 23rd from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Parents are encouraged to attend to have a better understanding of the progress of the child or the options that the students have to explore.

The Galena City School District would like to invite all Parents, Guardians, Students, Staff and Community Members to an Open House celebration on Tuesday, August 23rd, at 5:30 P.M. in the SHS gymnasium.

* Of note: In the winter, we will be hosting a welcome back celebration and an Open House on the GILA campus

During this time, we will introduce you to our entire team, welcome you into our classrooms and set the tone for an incredible year.

For those wishing to have an in-depth conversation regarding their student(s), we will happily schedule a time with you for a later date as well.

Galena Bible Church Youth Group is hosting a Color War on Wednesday, August 31st for all junior high and high schoolers!

7pm at Galena Bible Church on Louden.

Be sure to wear white or grab a free white T-shirt and get ready to see some colors fly! Community members are welcome to attend and watch the madness.
Participation is reserved for students.

The dorms are having a dance Friday, September 2nd, from 9pm-11pm at the sub.

GCSD’s Collaborative Group will be meeting regularly during the 2022/23 school year. Here are the meeting dates:

Auditions for Galena’s winter production of Clue will be held on September 7th and 8th from 7:00 P.M. to 8:30 P.M. at the Composite Auditorium on GILA campus.

Once casted, Mrs. Casey will send an email with the full rehearsal schedule. For those interested, rehearsals will tentatively be M-T-W during Sept and Oct. November, select weekends and additional tech days are TBD.

Our Galena Esports team will be holding try-outs for League of Legends on Tuesday, September 20th at 4:30pm in the Ptarmigan Hall Esports Lounge. (Rocket League try-outs will be on Thursday, September 22nd at 4:30pm)

• Open to all high school students
• No previous experience needed to participate
• Students can play on both teams
• Bring your school computer with you to try-outs
• If you can’t attend try-outs & want to participate, email or speak with Richard Ramage (richard.ramage@galenanet.com)
