All day 04/02/2021-04/04/2021 There are many fun events to watch AND join throughout Spring Carnival, April 2nd through April 4th! See attached flyer for event times. VIEW THE EVENT FLYER Friday: The students of Close Up 2021 will be selling soup and a roll on Friday evening at 5pm near the races in front of old town. Also baked goods will be for sale, your support for the students is appreciated. Thanks and please share! Soups options- chili, salmon chowder, moose soup and more. Saturday: The City of Galena will be providing hamburgers, hot dogs and Easter egg baskets. Sunday: **The Easter Egg Hunt will be moved to in front of the City of Galena Building and will be set up for different age groups. LOCATION: Down at the river bank in Old Town in near the blue teacher apartments Hope to see you there! (Please note: Schedule is subject to change. 12:00 am 04/08/2021-04/11/2021 Elementary skiing will continue to take place on Wednesdays and Sundays. The program currently has 13 students from 2nd to 5th grade. Plans are to continue through until April 25th pending snow conditions, with a ski celebration on May 2nd.
| 9 | 10 - STEM Building Open House
12:00 pm-2:00 pm 04/10/2021 Let’s all celebrate an amazing new facility for the education of our students! The community is invited to come to the Galena City Schools STEM Building Open House Saturday, April 10th from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Refreshments will be served, and family groups will be able to tour the building, ride the elevator and explore the newest educational facility in Galena. Groups needing special assistance or extra time, can call Carrie Given to arrange a specific time. All COVID protocols will be in place, per the GCSD Smart Start Plan. 11 - Green Alert Level
All day 04/11/2021-04/12/2021 After consulting with our local health authority, and in light of the fact that there have been no further positive COVID-19 cases in our Galena City Schools community, we are back in the “green” per our Smart Start Plan as of Sunday, April 11th.

All day 04/12/2021-04/16/2021 Virtual Health Career Exploration Camps are being offered to Galena high school students from 1:30 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. for Behavioral Health. Sponsored by YK AHEC and KUC Campus. View the event flyer here. Info for students wishing to attend: If students want to attend during school hours they need to contact Carrie Given and/or their local Admin. Then, they need to let their teachers know which classes they will be missing, if any. For those who plan to do the camps after school, they need to let Cory Stringer and/or Admin know, so we can arrange a space for them to be. 8:00 pm-11:00 pm 04/24/2021 We’re excited to be holding a Junior/Senior Prom on April 24th with the theme of “Night of 1,000 Lights”. Prom will be held at the SHS gymnasium from 8 pm to 11 pm for invited guests only. Please note: in an abundance of caution, we have asked that our community not attend prom this year. But we know that our friends, family and community will want to see our students in all their dressed-up finery. We will have a prom parade at 9:15 pm after crowning our prom court at 9:00 pm. We invite all our Galena friends, family and community members to gather in the parking lot of Sidney Huntington School at this time (9:15 pm) to take pictures and see our students all dressed up. - Prom Grand March
9:15 pm-10:00 pm 04/24/2021 Prom Grand March Main Entrance of SHS 9:15 p.m., April 24, 2021 Parents and community are welcomed to come and take pictures outside of the main entrance of SHS school. Prom couples will be announced and will walk down the steps of the main entrance to a staging area in which they will stop to allow pictures to be taken.
