The Galena City School District and the Galena Education Association invites all students Grades PreK to 8^th and their families to the annual Readfest. Come join us for free pizza and a free book to kick-off the start of Iditaread, Monday March 7^th at 5:00 pm in the Charles Evans Community Library.

The GCSD Board of Education invites stakeholders to a GCSD Board of Education Town Hall Meeting next Monday, March 7, 2022 at 6:00pm @ the SHS Charles Evans Library.

The purpose of the Town Hall Meeting is to provide community members an informal venue to hear from and ask questions of GCSD school board members or GCSD administrators about school district policies, programs, future plans, etc. Some of the planned discussion items are:

• Strategic Plan
• Curriculum
• Facilities/Maintenance
• Other

The GCSD Board of Education looks forward to providing this important line of communication with our community.

Wednesday, March 16^th, will be Parent Teacher Conferences.

PreK-8^th grade students will be released at 12:00 pm. The bus will be running.
High school students will be released at 12:51 pm. PreK-8^th grade conferences will be by appointment starting at 12:30 pm in the teacher classrooms. Sharilyn will call parents of K-8 students to arrange conference times.  High school conferences will be 1:30-3:00 pm in the SHS big gym.

The yearly state testing will begin March 29^th and continue to April 29^th .  Students from the 3^rd grade to the 10^th grade will be taking part in the test.  We ask that if possible to schedule doctors’ appointments and travel on days that your student is not scheduled to test.  To help your student do well on the tests please make sure they get a good night’s sleep the night before they test and get a good breakfast the day of the test.

6^th  and 7^th grade class, 1:30 pm (ELA Part 1)
