April PAC Meeting Agenda
3/31 Update from Lilly Ann DeWilde, Principal of Boarding School Operations:
Over the past few months, we have all been working together, and I sincerely want to thank you for being a part of our Parent Advisory Committee meetings. I have learned a lot about your concerns and hopes for your kids, and you helped us make positive changes in the day to day operations at GILA.
Technology never ceases to amaze me! On April 7th we plan to have our next PAC meeting. As always, we would appreciate your participation, guidance, and ideas. Please call in at the number and access code listed below.
Jason Kopp, our Director of Federal Programs and Grants, will be joining us to talk about Title I-A. Please consider volunteering for this committee. He has been working with some of our PAC members. He had this to say:
GILA qualifies as a Schoolwide Title I-A school. Title I, Part A (Title I) provides financial assistance to local educational agencies (LEAs) and schools with high numbers or high percentages of children from low-income families to help ensure that all children meet challenging state academic standards. There are many requirements associated with receiving Title I-A funds and part consultation is a very big part of Title I-A. Principal DeWilde will be distributing three documents for your consultation: GCSD Parent and Family Engagement Policy, GILA Parent and Family Engagement Policy, and Parent Compact _GILA. These documents will be distributed to all GILA families at the start of the 2022-2023 school year.
Also, GCSD will be applying for Title I-A and other title funding during the next two months. These title grant applications will provide targeted funding for programs during the 2022-2023 school year. We need GILA parent representation as those grant applications committees. Please consider volunteering and representing all of the students attending GILA.
I’m looking forward to our discussion, please let me know if you would like to add any agenda items prior to the start of the meeting. Our meeting will begin promptly at 7PM next Thursday night, please use the telephone number and access code below to join us.
