Ben is the Director of Residence Life at GILA. An avid fan of Alaska’s wide open spaces, he enjoys living in Galena with his wife and two boys.   He has been employed with the Galena City School District for nearly 20 years.

Ben heads up our Residence Life team with a shared focus of helping GILA students become productive community members, to identify their gifts, dreams/goals—and empowering each individual with the tools they need to be successful.

Dear GILA families, returning students, and new students,

Please allow me to introduce myself. I’m Ben Blasco, Director of Residence Life. 

I look forward to welcoming you all as new and returning members of the Galena Interior Learning Academy community. It is my utmost priority to ensure each student’s educational and personal growth, while also ensuring the effective functioning of our educational institution.

To all of our incoming students joining us this fall —
Our Residence Life team will provide you with much information that you will need to know about life at GILA, but it is you, as a concerned, engaged member of this community, who can provide meaning and enjoyment to your life and time on this campus. Meet your peers and neighbors. Get involved in sports and extracurricular activities. Take advantage of opportunities presented to you, and never limit yourself. Most of all, use what Galena Interior Learning Academy has to offer you to make the most out of your high school and post-secondary years. You can succeed.
