gila career pathway: UNMANNED AERIAL SYSTEMS
Gain FAA Remote Pilot Certification
Students in the unmanned aerial systems (UAS) classes earn the remote pilot certification from the Federal Aviation Administration. The certification allows graduates to work commercially and professionally using unmanned aerial vehicles.
PRINCIPLES OF FLIGHT
Principles of flight courses focus on all of the components and functions of aircraft. We’ll cover the physics of flight, design considerations for flight, and vocabulary terms associated with aviation. Students will build small unmanned aerial vehicle hobby kits and use them in a variety of recreational uses.
INTRO TO UAV
Introduction to UAVs provides students with the opportunity to earn their remote pilot certification. The course focuses on learning applicable regulations relating to small unmanned aircraft systems.
UAV APPLICATIONS
UAV Applications allows students to practice skills and techniques of unmanned aerial vehicle use in a variety of workplace settings. This project-based class explores and interviews professionals from industries utilizing UAV: fish and wildlife management, real estate, law enforcement and search and rescue, filmmaking, cartography and surveying, and construction. Students will also learn rudimentary use of Photoshop and Premiere Elements in the class.
