Migrant Education Program
Ask us about current opportunities! The GCSD Migrant Education Program team is currently recruiting students for the 2024/25 school year.
What is the Migrant Education Program?
The primary goal of the Migrant Education Program is to ensure that all migrant students reach challenging academic standards AND graduate with a high school diploma that prepares them for responsible citizenship, further learning, and productive employment.
If your family participates in commercial or subsistence fishing and/or berry picks for more than seven nights, you may qualify!
GCSD Recruiters are continually working to identify and recruit families of eligible migratory children! Fill out our contact form (below) and you can expect a call from one of our staff!
Family Questionnaire
It is helpful if parents or guardians fill out our MEP Questionnaire to assist our recruitment team with preliminary background information, but please be aware that a brief interview time slot will still need to be established to further determine eligibility. We appreciate this advance information, if possible!
Have you and your family…
- gone subsistence fishing—such as crabbing, shrimping, or using poles/nets to fish?
- spent time commercial fishing?
- participated in agricultural subsistence activities, like berry-picking?
- been involved in logging?
Requirements
- Relocated to area for 7-nights.
(Example: camping for subsistence fishing or berry picking.) - Moved with family member for employment purposes. The Title I-C program defines this by a “qualifying move”—meaning a move due to economic necessity.
