Mr. Casey is the Principal of Sidney C. Huntington School. Born in Texas and raised in Florida, he attended college to play football and pursue a degree in teaching or coaching athletics. He and his wife, Sutton, have been a part of the Galena community since relocating from Colorado in 2018. 

Dave enjoys getting to know each student to help guide them on their own educational path. Nothing makes him happier than being involved in personal successes for every student, whether that be through academics, athletic achievements, or meeting personal goals. We are honored to have him as a part of Team Galena!

Dear SHS Families, 

The school year is winding down and we are busy with all those end-of-the-year festivities. There are many!
 
We are pleased to welcome families for our Pre-K and Kindergarten graduation in the small gym at 7:00 pm tomorrow, Thursday, May 11 ^th. 
 
Friday is the last instructional day for seniors! They will need to turn in their computers to be reimaged. Please make sure your senior has saved important documents to a thumb drive. Mrs. Casey has extra thumb drives.  
   
On Monday, the seniors will be attending the “Sneak Day”. If you need information,  please email Mrs. Casey; she will provide information for you.
 
Finals for students in grades 9-11 begin next week. 
  
On May 17 ^th, all non-graduating students will turn in their computers. Thank you for helping us get the computers back to school. Also, on May 17 ^th, Baccalaureate will be held at Galena Bible Church at 7:00 pm.
  
May 18 ^th Graduation and Last Day of School

• We will close out the year with a Field Day and a Community BBQ before graduation.
   
• We invite you to have lunch with us on the last day of school. We’ll be staggering our lunch schedule to accommodate all of our guests. Please enjoy the BBQ at the time scheduled for your student’s lunch. 

        Pre-K and Kinder — 11:00 am
        1st — 11:10 am
        2nd and 3rd — 11:15 am
        4th and 5th — 11:30 am
        6th and 7th — 11:40 am
        12th and Elders — 12:00 pm
        8th to 11th — 12:15 pm
        Community members without students — 12:20 pm

• After students are done eating, they will be dismissed for the summer.
   
• Graduation begins at 6:00 pm in the gym at SHS.
   
• Congratulations to all our graduating seniors and their families: We are celebrating Finn Hornfischer, Kaylee Sommer and Caleb Benjamin and Jon Winters.

Thank you for your support during the school year. It has been my pleasure and honor to serve as the principal at Sidney C. Huntington School for the last four years. At the end of the school year, I will be retiring. I could not have chosen a better school and community in which to end my career. It has been the experience of a lifetime. Thank you for your support.  I wish you all a wonderful summer.
