Principal’s Corner

Spring Semester 2022

Welcome to Spring Semester!

We welcome you back from winter break and hope everyone enjoyed the break with your family and enjoyed the winter wonderland of Alaska.  We would like to welcome Sally Spellman to our staff as our new sixth and seventh grade teacher.  Mrs. Spellman comes to us with years of experience from teaching all over the globe from Tanzania to Afghanistan.  She also taught in Hughes, Alaska.  Her hometown is Port Charlotte, Florida.  Welcome to Galena, Mrs. Spellman.

We continue to be challenged with COVID-19.  Who could have imagined that we would still be battling the threat of COVID nearly two years later?  We are greatly appreciative of your continued support of masking through January 19.

We have recently added a computer based math program called IXL.  It is a computer based tutorial.  It is extremely student friendly and is designed to help fill learning gaps and allows students to challenge themselves and advance to new concepts.

We continue to work with Harvard School of Education to improve our literacy instruction.  Our teachers are working together to improve teaching strategies.

We are excited to have activities and sports in our school again.  Keep an eye out on our calendar for home games in our gym.

Graduation is planned for May 18th, so mark your calendars for this important event.

Thank you for continuing to send your children to us for their education.

Sincerely,

David Casey, Principal
